18 Things White People Seem To Not Understand (Because, White Privilege)

The discussion of white privilege is an often times uncomfortable but very important conversation. As a person of color, it’s offensive when white people say they don’t feel privileged because they didn’t choose to be white. The fact of the matter is that white people receive advantages and free passes all the time because of their race. I’m not saying that every white person intentionally oppresses people of color. Instead, this racism is so institutionalized, it often takes conscious effort to be able to see these injustices more clearly. While discussions regarding race may be slightly awkward or uncomfortable for white people in the moment, that is the feeling people of color have to live with on a daily basis.
